So, I moved to beautiful San Clemente by the sea in October, 2004 to work at The Surfer’s Journal. Searching out a place to live, I came across a studio that had the requisite gas stove, and was just two blocks up from the beach. Then, almost as an afterthought, the landlord mentioned the garage space…

It measured 18-feet, three-inches. Stem-to-stern, Cormorant would come in at 18-feet, 1-inch.

I had found the boat shop!
